This Kestrel pair has just begun the courting ritual. Nancy captures the first few moments of uncertainty in the male as he meets his potential mate. Poised higher on the branch of an old pine tree, the female regards him with reticence.
Nancy is well known for her attention to realism in the smallest details like the rough tree bark and the soft shadows in the feathers of these small but elegant birds of prey.
